Reporting health data in waiting rooms with mobile technology: Patient expectation and confirmation

چکیده
Abstract Objectives Hospitals and medical staff use digital devices such as mobile phones tablets to treat patients. Prior research has examined patient-reported outcomes, the of do diagnosis prognosis patients, but not whether patients like using, intend in future, self-report data. We address this gap by developing a theoretical model based on expectancy confirmation (ECM) testing it an empirical study using technology Design This adopts non-interventional cross-sectional design. Randomly-selected provided data via survey physical measurements. The target population comprises adults visiting healthcare laboratory get their blood drawn. Materials Methods surveyed 190 randomly-selected waiting for treatment clinic. They were at two points time – before after was drawn demographic characteristics, variables concerning provide information, perceived clinical (blood pressure, height weight). tested structural equation modeling. Results found strong support model, with seven eight hypotheses being supported. Both self-disclosure effort feedback expectation positively affect both quality confirmation. Contrary expectations, Perceived quality, along confirmation, satisfaction, which intention disclose through technology. Conclusions study’s findings proposed path from satisfaction disclosure intention. Although does affects satisfaction. Overall, we believe results novel insights scientific community practitioners about technologies self-reporting

Expectation Confirmation in Technology Use
W propose a model to study expectation confirmation in information systems. The proposed model is based on the assimilation-contrast model and prospect theory, and suggests that both are needed to account for the magnitude and direction of the deviations between experiences and expectations. Using the technology acceptance model’s (TAM) primary construct—namely, perceived usefulness—expectation...
متن کاملPatient health information materials in waiting rooms of family physicians: do patients care?
BACKGROUND Patient health information materials (PHIMs), such as leaflets and posters are widely used by family physicians to reinforce or illustrate information, and to remind people of information received previously. This facilitates improved health-related knowledge and self-management by patients. OBJECTIVE This study assesses the use of PHIMs by patient. It also addresses their percepti...
متن کاملIntegrating Technology Readiness into the Expectation-Confirmation Model: An Empirical Study of Mobile Services
The aim of this study was to integrate technology readiness into the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) for explaining individuals' continuance of mobile data service usage. After reviewing the ECM and technology readiness, an integrated model was demonstrated via empirical data. Compared with the original ECM, the findings of this study show that the integrated model may offer an ameliorated...
متن کاملWaiting rooms and the unconscious.
If you ask patients what they dislike about seeing doctors, there is a fair chance they will mention having to sit in waiting rooms for ages. Doctors tend to get defensive when they hear this and are likely to offer reasons why it happens. These usually include the following. ‘There are never enough doctors, so we are always working against the clock.’ ‘Consultations are unpredictable and may g...
متن کاملExploring Different Roles between Service Expectation and Technology Expectation In Citizen's E-Government Continuance Adoption: An Extended Expectation-Confirmation Model
Although Chinese government has got remarkable achievement in e-Government development, the difficult issue that citizen use behaviour cannot last toward many e-Government services has long been troubling to government in different levels. Based on expectation-confirmation theory (ECT), this paper proposed an extended model by divide the expectation and perceived performance into two categories...
